
Rock & Water was originally developed in the Netherlands by the pedagogue Freerk Ykema in the early 1990s for children who were bullied and bullied children. Rock & Water has since been applied in the Netherlands as well as in other parts of the world, especially in Australia. The seminar will be led by the program’s founder Freerk Ykema.
The program has a theoretical connection to learning theory, conflict and communication theories and stress management. In Sweden, the program has critically reviewed by Mehdi Ghazinour, professor of social work who has extensive research experience from evaluation research, psychological
health and intervention studies as well as by medical doctor Jonas Hansson.
Rock & Water training aims to increase the psychosocial skills of young boys and girls. The Rock & Water attitude in physical and verbal contacts is about; to be strong with both physical and mental balance, breathing, boundary consciousness and body language exercises. ‘Rock’ stands for the relentless and unbearable; ‘Water’ stands for cooperation and communication. In all communication can be chosen between the firmer rock attitude or the more flexible water attitude. Physical exercises are used to practice mental and social skills. The Rock & Water program uses games, easy self-defense and communication exercises to build stronger self-esteem. After completion of the course, participants are expected to be able to apply practical exercises that allow children and adolescents to increase self, body and emotional awareness.
