Rock & Water – Social Competency Training, Communication and Conflict Management

Rock & Water was originally developed in the Netherlands by the pedagogue Freerk Ykema in the early 1990s for children who were bullied and bullied children. Rock & Water has since been applied in the Netherlands as well as in other parts of the world, especially in Australia. The seminar will be led by the program’s founder Freerk Ykema.

The program has a theoretical connection to learning theory, conflict and communication theories and stress management. In Sweden, the program has critically reviewed by Mehdi Ghazinour, professor of social work who has extensive research experience from evaluation research, psychological
health and intervention studies as well as by medical doctor Jonas Hansson.

Rock & Water training aims to increase the psychosocial skills of young boys and girls. The Rock & Water attitude in physical and verbal contacts is about; to be strong with both physical and mental balance, breathing, boundary consciousness and body language exercises. ‘Rock’ stands for the relentless and unbearable; ‘Water’ stands for cooperation and communication. In all communication can be chosen between the firmer rock attitude or the more flexible water attitude. Physical exercises are used to practice mental and social skills. The Rock & Water program uses games, easy self-defense and communication exercises to build stronger self-esteem. After completion of the course, participants are expected to be able to apply practical exercises that allow children and adolescents to increase self, body and emotional awareness.

One-year training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in theory and practice

The overall objectives of the education program
The training will cover the theoretical as well as practical tools within a series of treatment models within CBT. Emphasis will be placed on useful knowledge and practical exercises to increase and stimulate the participant’s skills in working with people in crisis or suffering from mental health. The education will focus on learning how, through the application of CBT, you can enhance the individual’s quality of life by making sustainable choices in life.

After completing the course you should have:

  • Achieved a higher degree of scientific / evidence-based theoretical knowledge
  • Has increased your skill to learn how to make assessment calls
  • Has increased your skill to learn how to perform various call techniques
  • Has increased your knowledge about the diagnostic system and diagnosis
  • Has increased your capacity to perform CBT treatments with a particular focus on anxiety disorder
  • Has increased your capacity to implement CBT treatments with a particular focus on depression
  • Has increased your ability to implement CBT treatments with a particular focus on problem solving and developing functional behaviors in everyday life

The training is aimed at: Socionomists / curators, coaches and treatment staff, HR staff or special teachers who come into contact with people in crisis daily.

Educational leaders are legitimate psychologists and psychotherapists who have many years of experience in treatment work in CBT. The education rests on scientific grounds and proven experience, which means that Professor Ghazinour will participate in education and main responsibility for education. He has extensive experience in teaching and running CIT on a national and international basis.

One day’s training in assessment

The training will treat what or which signals the interviewer / therapist should observe in the individual while the assessment call is in progress. The training will be discussed later in the day, discussing how a structured assessment interview is conducted and what issues and areas of life you will immerse yourself in during an assessment interview.

After completing the course you should have:
